Intro to Business via Experiential Learning
Studies show that business students use only 20% of their academic learning once they enter business life. So, business skills are mostly learned on the job. This is a time-consuming and risky process. Also, it does not make the best use of skills immediately and young generations tend not to have the patience for this long learning curve. Our Blended Learning Programs which incorporate business simulations shorten the learning and development process radically as they offer a risk-free learning environment.
Sound business decisions require an understanding of the complete business to achieve positive business outcomes for the company. Such decision making requires understanding how the decisions in one department affect other departments and the rest of the corporation. These skills are usually treated in a corporate context. With our programs we ensure that the “business acumen” attributed more to entrepreneurial environments becomes a key learning. A leader with business acumen skills focuses on critical factors and has the agility to adjust to constantly changing internal and external demands. He/She understands the language of business and the language of individual departments. Business acumen is a skill that needs to be learned and practiced.
In our Blended Learning Programs, participants can practice applying business skills to a simulation company as they run a simulated company over several rounds. With short lectures before each round the participants are reminded of the theory and tools of each business function. The simulation allows them to make mistakes and have learning moments in a safe environment. Participants will develop a disciplined and consistent approach to better understand business challenges, management and acumen.
